Drawing the figure in charcoal
Alan Clarke shows how to make quick gestural studies of the nude in charcoal.
Through three demos, each less than 10 minutes, you will get an insight into Alan's approach to sketching the figure. These demos place and emphasis on fast gestural drawing initially, coming back with the broad side of the charcoal to establish the basic shadow shapes after.
In addition, Alan introduces the medium in its various forms as well as some useful warm up drawing exercises and tips on best practice for how to hold the charcoal to achieve different types of lines and marks.
