What is hyperrealism?
Hyperrealism builds on the techniques of the more literal Photorealists who arguably had less charm and emotion in their work.
This newly grown branch of
realism strives to portray images in an ultra-realistic manner, using myriad details to create an almost
surreal effect, erasing the lines between art and reality.
Course Content
This course will start by developing basic skills in drawing hair and skin-tones by layering colors with oil based colored pencils (polychromos), initially drawing freely from imagination and eventually using specific images as reference. Then the focus shifts to drawing individual features, the eyes, nose, lips and ears. Finally a full portrait will be drawn in stages from initial sketch to finished portrait using a photographic image as reference. All reference images are provided.
